Ten Less-Considered Keys to Project Success

CIO Magazine published a summary of a recent survey regarding project success factors. The list has some of my personal favorites, including:

  • Clear definition of success
  • Clearly defined roles and responsibilities
  • Process for managing scope changes, and
  • Risk management

Though I agree that “A Willingness to Make Unpopular Decisions” is relevant, I’ve found great success with clients helping them learn how to develop their influence skills so they don’t become unpopular because of the way the decision is handled!

No list completely captures all the factors relating to project success and failure, but this article is a worthy read (click here for the article). In just a few weeks we’ll be publishing our free video series entitled “20 Ways to Radically Improve Your Ability to Deliver Projects”. Stay tuned for more information!

  1. Just what could it be about examining things through someone else’s view point that presents such an incredible perspective? This and some other articles on your weblog here definitely offer some food for thought. I ended up on here soon after finishing up some stuff for work on Bing and somehow browsed on to your website. Had a breeze reading through your articles and I’ll be adding you to my RSS reader to keep track later on. Bye!
